I went to the football last night with my son, and ran into really old friend, the man who married me and my son’s mum 22 years ago.
He is a chaplain by trade and has worked in sport for years. He isn’t a typically religious person, in fact he said when I asked him to marry us, “I’m actually not very religious at all”.
He is in fact deeply spiritual and totally opposed to fundamentalism of any sort.
He shared that at the age of 70, he has gone back to studying, doing a Graduate Certificate in Professional Supervision, and has just completed a project on establishing an identity as a supervisor (accepting a new reality about oneself).
One thing he said was that it seems to him that through life we keep recycling phases of personal growth, rather than following a linear progression of development.
This resonated with me because of a conversation with Lisa that rekindled my interest in astrology, which was about a young footballer who was troubled, and her comment that we don’t become adults until the age of 28, because that’s how long it takes Saturn to transit.
This led us to talk about topics such as the controversial “Mars effect”, which led me to get my chart done by Lisa (which I found deeply revealing). I then got the charts of the athletes I coach done, with similar exciting results. Having said that we’re only scratching the surface.
I think that astrology, and the way that Lisa interprets and analyses the charts, has much to offer people in all walks of life, but particularly in human performance and of course in sports. It offers insight into the way different athletes respond to different situations, and excitingly how an individual’s chart interacts with the charts of their coaches and those of their training partners and teammates. This is all without touching on the influence of the stars on civilisation and the “Collective Psyche”
I am excited to keep working with Lisa and to keep exploring how astrology can help individual and collective sports performance, and in fact how it can help the human development that my friend from last night is studying.
Needless to say, when I told him about my interest in astrology through my work with Lisa, he totally got it.
